I remember every April when my friends and I would huddle around the kitchen table and grumble about taxes. We would joke and gripe about how our hard earned money was being used to buy ‘penis pumps’ for the government. Little did we know they were actually investing in medical supplies like those ‘penis pumps’.
When I heard about the news, vibrators it was a real eye-opener. Why would the government spend money on something like this? It seemed a bit strange, and sex toys I could not deny feeling a little embarrassed to say the least. But then a few of my buddies began to laugh uncontrollably at the thought of the public purse being used to purchase them.
Further research told me that the ‘penis pump’ was actually a medical device used to treat erectile dysfunction and that it has been approved by the FDA since 2003. It was a real surprise! I mean, I had heard of ‘penis enlargement’ products before, but I didn’t expect them to be approved by the government.
After all, taxes pay for a number of valuable services, such as schools, hospitals, transportation, and other infrastructure projects. Investing in medical devices to improve quality of life and health outcomes is just one of those services. To be honest, it never really occurred to me what my taxes were actually going towards.
I’m happy to pay taxes, and I’m even more grateful to know that my taxes are being used to purchase medical supplies to treat erectile dysfunction and other serious ailments. It is an honour knowing that my hard earned money is being used for such a noble cause.
Yet, I could not help but wonder what other items of importance the government may invest in. Maybe they’re investing in research and development of artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies, or in innovative new applications of existing medical technology? Those things sound even more exciting than the ‘penis pumps’.
At the end of the day, taxes are used to pay for all kinds of important services and investments. Knowing that my money is going to improve people’s lives is a satisfying feeling. I’m curious to see what the future will bring, and I’ll most likely stay notified with the latest government initiatives. Who knows what amazing product my taxes may be helping to fund in the near future?
